Fibre2Fashion: Brazil is continuing to play hardball with IP protection...in this case it has threatened to remove restrictions on the intellectual property rights of US companies unless the US meets a July 1 deadline set by the WTO to reduce subsidies to its cotton farmers. "If US administration fails to resolve the issue before deadline, it would affect a range of US industries that include entertainment, computer software, publishing, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals."
Last year US cotton farmers received US$1.6 billion in subsidies, which completely undermines the countries rhetoric about free trade...
